Philadelphia Flyers Pre-season
The Philadelphia Flyers began preseason Sunday, September 16 against the New York Islanders. It was a rough start for the boys in orange, getting shut out 0-3. It was the first game and with it being preseason Ron Hextall (Flyers GM) was giving some young guys and rookies a chance to compete for a roster spot for the upcoming season for 2018-19. The next day, the team traveled back home to have a rematch vs the Islanders. One goal from Vorobyov and two goals from Gostisbehere, combined for a 3-1 victory. For the third night in a row they played the Islanders back on the island. Goals were spread out by five different players including de Haas, Twarynski, Varone, Martel, and Lehtera to finish the three game serious winning 5-1. On Wednesday, September 19, the Flyers stayed in New York, playing the New York Rangers, arguably one of the biggest rivals in hockey history. Philadelphia played for the fourth night in a row, but wasn’t too hard for the Flyers to get excited for this game. It was a very high scoring game, with ten goals in total and six from the Flyers. Lindblom had a pair of goals, Vorobyov, Knight, Rubtsov, Weise combined for six goals, as the Flyers beat the New York Rangers 6-4 for their fourth game in as many nights.
