On Wednesday night, the first round of playoffs are completed. The defending stanley cup champions, the Washington Capitals, battled a hard fought game 7 against the Carolina Hurricanes. It was a close game and the third longest in game 7 history. Mr. Game 7, Justin Williams who has the most points in games 7 in the history of the NHL with 15 points in 9 games, assisted on the overtime winning goal which game him the lead for most points in game 7. The 4 division leaders coming into the playoffs all were defeated, this is the first time that has happened in NHL history. The Carolina Hurricanes will now face the New York Islanders and the Columbus Blue Jackets will now face the Boston Bruins, that wraps up for the eastern conference. And for the western conference the Dallas Stars will battle the St. Louis Blues and the Colorado Avalanche will battle the San Jose Sharks.
